Hi guys, i'm new to the Versys world, just got a beautiful 2018 Versys 650, like all Versys it has the snatchy on/off throttle. All gears has extremely sensible throttle that jumped straight to 4000rpm to slightest throttle input and had snatchy excessive engine braking, exept neutral.

My chain is fairly new and adjusted properly, and my clutch and throttle cables are maintained and adjusted properly as well. At this point I'm thinking it may be that it needs the valves adjusted and/or the throttle bodies synchronized again.

I recently changed my heated grips and put some Keis ones on, I had a similar problem with the throttle sticking, it looked like there was clearance at both ends of the grip but on closer inspection I noticed there was a slight "lip" of rubber on the inside diameter at the bar weight end.

If the throttle grip doesn't return properly, check the throttle cable routing, grip free play, and cable damage. Then lubricate the throttle cable.

The jerky throttle response is a fueling problem due to emissions requirements. I installed a Power Commander V along with the Autotune module with O2 sensor, and now have great throttle response plus more power.

The throttle response on the Versys should not be like an on/off switch. There could be several issues but first of all I would make sure that it is your throttle which is at fault and not your right hand. It may be a case of both needing some adjustment.

To adjust, loosen the locknut at the upper end of the accelerator cable. (under throttle grip) Turn the adjuster in completely so as to give the throttle grip plenty of play.

My throttle feels like it has more free play than I think it should, I can rotate the throttle a half inch or so. The manual says to adjust it at the handlebars.

Yesterday, i turned on the bike (didnt start it) to show something to my son... and he noticed that when i turned off the bike with the key, the throttle handle moved a little bit on its own!!! like giving a tiny little bit of gas, then returning to original position.

After putzing with the throttle adjustment, the housing for both the push and pull throttle cables makes a distinct clicking noise when the throttle is completely closed.
